Transitional Kitchen Design
Somers Point Road, Mays Landing NJ
When designing a large space for both entertaining large parties and making intimate dinners for two, it is important to find the balance between functionality and aesthetics. In such a large space, three finishes were utilized to create a dynamic environment. Although the bar is very much included in the space as a whole, it's important to make this area independent, as well. Distressed black cabinetry adds a feeling of dignified character and charm. Dual islands are prominent in design, and this kitchen has embraced that movement. By utilizing our custom cabinet, Unique Series by Cabico, the designer had the ability to truly personalize to the homeowners needs. Both islands were created at 39" high in lieu of the standard 36". The primary island creates an active work-flow with deep additional storage on the back, is quite substantial. The secondary island not only houses additional storage, but allows an intimate space for morning coffee, or the ability to entertain guests with seating and vast countertop. Bringing in details such as toe-kick valances, posts, glass, and applied moldings bring forward a slightly traditional twist, to an otherwise very transitional design.
